Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, born on 7 December 7 1963 in Edo State, Nigeria, grew up in a family of faith, supported by loving and devoted parents. He was the oldest of four children born to the elder T.E Oyakhilome, one of the early pioneers of the Assemblies of God Church in Benin City, and Angelina the matriarch of the Oyakhilome family, who imprinted her faith in God's grace upon her son at an early age.

His brother Reverend Ken (the revered pastor of Christ Embassy Houston, Texas Church) and a member Christ Embassy Central Executive Council are his two sisters. Pastor Chris has two daughters: Carissa Sharon and Charlene. Carissa Sharon has chosen to follow her father's example of sharing the Gospel of God with the world and is also called CSO, she is a talented gospel artist, award-winning and a part of the LoveWorld Music and Arts family.
Pastor Chris Oyakhilome was a student at Edo College before winning a scholarship to pursue a degree in architecture at Bendel State University, known in the present as Ambrose Ali University, where he obtained an BSc in Architecture. He also received an honorary Doctor of Science award. He is also awarded an honorary doctorate in divinity from Benson Idahosa University. Ambrose Ali University was his first university. He received his calling from God to be a minister and serve the Lord.

While still at university While still in university, the Man of God started what would later become the largest church worldwide. It began with the formation of a small prayer group known as 'Youth for Christ'. The group would later grow to be the basis for LoveWorld Incorporated and Christ Embassy as well as eventually millions of followers across the globe.
